Shadow Health Secretary stops off to support Rotherham

Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Health, Andy Bunham MP, kept his promise to us last week and stopped off at Rotherham Hospital to throw his weight behind our campaign.

Mr Burnham, who spoke to staff and campaigners about their concerns, said: “David Cameron promised to protect the NHS, but everywhere I go in the country people tell me they’re worried the health service is going backwards.

“Under the Tories we’ve seen thousands of nursing jobs lost and a damaging £3bn reorganisation that nobody wanted. Patient care is suffering as David Cameron puts NHS finances on a knife-edge.

“Rotherham is sending a really strong message to the Government to put patient care first – and I am here to support that.”
